tennis in the sunshine
Today a friend picked me up and whizzed me off to a tennis court. High up on the side of the mountain, with the city shimmering below us and tall trees climbing up the slopes above, we whacked the yellow ball to and fro, into the net, over the sides of the court, and wildly beyond the lines. It was amazingly fun! Running to fetch the ball countless times, straining to reach that impossible shot, and thwacking wild shots way beyond the baseline all go towards a jolly good workout! I felt exhilarated and young again! I loved dancing around celebrating a total fluke volley that sat on the line, laughing hard when once again my third attempt to even start a rally has ended up in the net, and simply taking out the weeks frustrations on a harmless fluffy sphere. I will certainly be gathering my Wimbledon inspiration and slinging my ancient racket over my shoulder for another excuse to show off my shocking tennis skills very soon - and my heart will certainly be glad - not to mention my shoulders and hamstrings! A great workout, for body and soul.
